Despite the name, black cod does not belong to the cod family. Black cod, also known as sablefish, is often referred to as “butterfish” for its rich, buttery flavor. It has a velvety texture and is moist, delicate, and full of healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

Unlike other fish we offer, black cod does not debone well raw. Our black cod fillets will contain bones to maintain the structure of the fish. The pin bones will release more easily once cooked.
